2020: The Year of Vision and Insight

There is nothing in life I need more than God, Jesus – my Savior, Healer, and Friend.  For the last couple days I have been thinking about this scripture –

 Isaiah 43:2 (New International Version)

When you pass through the waters,
    I will be with you;
and when you pass through the rivers,
    they will not sweep over you.
When you walk through the fire,
    you will not be burned;
    the flames will not set you ablaze.

It’s been resonating with me for a couple reasons. First, because of the climate of the world we live in right now. The fear, tension and failures of both spiritual and political leaders have made some of us more cynical than hopeful. Secondly, and this is the part that gives me hope, I have experiences with God. I know He has me in the palm of His hands.

In times past, I recall when my bank account wouldn’t yield what I needed for groceries. I remember when I trusted God for my necessary food. Like manna, He would provide what we needed for each day. He still provides for me and my family daily, however, like the nation of Israel, His provisions looks a little different when we are on the other side of the valley or that hardship.

It was during those times that I drew even closer to Him and learned of Him and understood that His love for me wasn’t dependent on what I did – but what He had already done for me.

While 2020 may be one of the most challenging year some of us have ever seen, rest assure – God is still with us. Talk to Him, let Him know what concerns you – seek His face and tell Him what your fears are. He is still in control not us, the control we think we have is nothing more than an illusion anyway. Ask yourself and answer honestly, “In all the years past that I have tried to worry and care for myself, where have that gotten me?”

I still believe 2020 is the year of vision and insight – we might need to adjust our sights a little, but God's plan for you remains the same. Therefore, I urge you to look beyond the fear and cynicism and trust in the One Who knows all things. Go ahead and take that leap of faith and remind yourself - God and I, we go way back!
