Have a Laugh: It's not That Serious!
By Karen Williams, BCC
As a married couple, it's easy to get wrapped up in the seriousness
of daily life. Work, bills, kids—you name it and there is something that can
cause you stress on any given day. When you take yourself too seriously, it can
be difficult to find balance and maintain a healthy perspective. This is why having a
laugh and not taking yourself too seriously is so important.
Lighten Up!
Take some time to lighten up and have some fun together! First, try saying "Yes" more often! Make room for your adventurous side to emerge. You might be surprised at what kind of experiences you can share together when you open yourself up to being spontaneou. If you are not as adventurous, then think about some indoor games. Board games, card games, video games—it doesn't matter what kind of game you choose, as long as you're enjoying yourselves. Games help bring out your playful side and allow you to bond with each other in a different way. It also helps keep things fresh in the relationship since you're doing something new together.
One of the most effective ways to bring more fun into a
marriage is by surprising each other from time to time. Whether it’s planning a
romantic dinner for two or planning an exciting weekend getaway, surprises keep
relationships fresh and allow you both to appreciate one another in new ways.
Plus, it shows that you care enough about each other that you want to make your spouse feel special—what could be better than that?
Life can be stressful but don't forget that it's also meant to be enjoyed! As a married couple, it's important for both partners to take some time out of their lives and focus on having fun together; without worrying about all the responsibilities you have on your plate at any given moment.
At the end of the day, having fun is all about trying something new and embracing adventure every once in a while. Don’t let life become too serious; instead, focus on creating moments with your spouse where laughter and joy comes first.
