Godly Success

What is Godly Success?
A |
s Christians, we all want to
achieve Godly success and we actively seek God for it. However, the world has
convinced us that the path to success can only come at a cost or some great sacrifice. It can cost us our family life, our relationships
and even marriages have suffered on our journey towards success. We often hear business owners glorifying “the
grind” and while Godly success requires excellence and discipline, and that is
work – God promised us that His yoke would be easy and His burden would be
light (Matthew 11:28-30). Therefore, we achieve Godly success when we pursue a
vision that comes only from God.
What does a Godly vision look
like?
A God-given vision focuses us,
anchors us, and is our true north.
Getting a vision from God is always exciting, as He shows us His plans
and purposes, it illuminates our very soul. You know it’s from God because it
will glorify Him first, then serve people second. That is a complete
contradiction to world’s definition of success. The world’s definition focuses
on things and the acquiring of things, and personal gratification – none of
which will matter in the long run. So,
we stay focused on the promise, on the vision, meanwhile not looking to the
left or to the right at how anyone else is pursuing theirs. We keep God the
main thing by acknowledging Him in everything we do (Proverbs 3:5-6). Don’t get
me wrong, Christian business owners want to make money just like the next guy –
nonetheless, money cannot be at the center of the vision. However, when God and
people are at the center, when people’s lives begin to change and transform for
the better; you are now partnering with God in manifesting the abundant life. (John
10:10)
Finally, I challenge you with this question: How many lives have you positively affected, doing what you believe God called you to do? That is how we measure Godly success, when we help others to be successful! That is how Godly success manifests itself. There is freedom in knowing that Godly success is not depending on me or any outside source in order to bring it to pass. The money, the social following, the influence, the right team, and the resource will show up, as we are keeping God as The Source.

first chapter of Joshua 1)
